Journey Philippines Visitors? Guide bags another award

The Asia Pacific Excellence Awards chose Journey Philippines Visitors? Guide as ?The Outstanding Travel Guide Publication? for 2004. Asia Pacific Excellence Awards founding director Seji Yii-Kagawa conferred the citation during the awarding rites held recently at the AFP Theater in Quezon City.

Published by AdFokus, Journey Philippines Visitors? Guide was chosen from among a number of titles nominated for the citation based on the criteria of product features and quality; contribution to consumers and public service; public opinion and survey; and pricing.

Early this year, Journey Philippines Visitors? Guide was also cited by the National Consumer Affairs Foundation as "The Most Promising Travel Magazine" during its year-ender awards selection for 2003. During the first half of the year, Journey Philippines Visitors? Guide already received two distinctions.

"This is a great honor for us and we are ecstatic with this latest award two in a row this year! We are doubly inspired to produce the magazine knowing that our efforts are being recognized. Journey Philippines Visitors? Guide is now distinctly positioning itself as a quality information delivery vehicle for promoting Philippine tourism. We share this recognition with our partners, our advertisers, and we thank them for the support, " said Norman Tandoc, Journey Philippines Visitors? Guide publisher and AdFokus president. Mr. Tandoc is also the secretary general of the Publishers and Editors League of the Philippines (PELP) and the NCR-director of the Federation of Provincial Press Clubs of the Philippines (FPPCP).

Originally letter-sized, Journey Philippines Visitors? Guide was first conceived in1990. AdFokus re-launched the magazine late last year into a free-copy 4 x 8 handy format, full-color, monthly publication providing practical travel information and local tourism news.

For the May issue, featuring the festivals of Quezon Province, Journey Philippines Visitors? Guide got the support of SM Supermalls - the biggest chain of shopping malls in the country. SM participated in the May issue featuring the SM City Lucena. Carla Canlas, Group marketing manager for provincial Luzon of SM Supermalls spearheaded the project with the magazine.

Also this month, AdFokus launched its newest publication with the birth of Metro ARANGKADA. Dubbed as "the Philippines" first free-copy tabloid for motoring", the bilingual, monthly publication covers the local motoring industry, particularly the motorcycle segment, through news and information. Metro ARANGKADA is circulated in select areas nationwide.
