SHERATON WORLD RESORT OFFERS TRAVELERS A NEW WORLD OF BUSINESS AND LEISURE CHOICES
Different travelers expect different services from a hotel, and the Sheraton World Resort on International Drive can satisfy them all.
With beautiful new Tower rooms and suites and 789 completely remodeled resort rooms overlooking three tropically landscaped swimming pools, both group and leisure guests enjoy accommodations that meet their special needs.
The Sheraton World Resort, set on 28 lush acres adjacent to Sea World in Orlando, truly is a world unto itself. It's hard to imagine an amenity or service a traveler could want that isn't available right at the resort.
Convention and banquet guests enjoy the use of 55,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space. A charming, full-service restaurant and separate New York-style deli, miniature golf, video arcade, W.H. Smith gift boutique, fitness center and massage service are but a few of the other amenities offered by the hotel.
And adding a new look is the 16-story Tower, slated for completion in July of 2000, that will add 305 new rooms and suites and two Club Level concierge floors to the hotel's welcoming resort campus.
"In the past, our resort was designed for and appealed more to the resort guest. Now, we have the 16-story tower, which appeals to business travelers and the convention guest," noted General Manager Keith Wolling. "These are people who prefer a highrise building with interior rooms, elevators and VIP suites. With the addition of our new Tower, we're able to make them comfortable and welcome here, too. We truly do have something for everyone."
Along with the new Tower, which features its own meeting rooms for conferences, the hotel also has renovated and expanded its East Conference Center. The new Center features all new carpeting, upscale lighting and accouterments, as well as a stunning new 10,000-square-foot grand ballroom that can be divided into four smaller rooms.
This is in addition to the 12,000-square-foot ballroom that is found in the hotel's main building, off the lobby. With the addition of the Tower, the hotel now has 1,102 guest rooms and suites and 55,000 square feet of meeting space -- all brand new after a complete renovation of the entire hotel, noted Wolling.
"We can handle conventions of quite substantial size now," he commented. "And we can serve as a host hotel for city-wide conventions held nearby at the Orlando Convention Center."
A meandering walk along the paths that wind their way through the resort offer guests a chance to relax and enjoy the tropical feel of warm sunshine on their faces and the hint of floral fragrance on the breeze. The hotel is surrounded by lush tropical foliage, but it's not enough for Wolling, who took the helm at Sheraton World in early 2000. He's ordered additional landscaping throughout the property, enhancing its natural beauty.
"The Sheraton World has enjoyed a long relationship with meeting and resort guests," Wolling said. "We've made sure that the original portions of the resort have been upgraded and remodeled to meet the high standards set by the owners when they began construction on the new tower. So, regardless of when it was built, everything at the Sheraton World is new, fresh, beautiful and welcoming, just the way we planned it."
With a bonus. After joining the hotel in January, Wolling met with officials of Sea World and arranged a special package just for Sheraton World guests.
"Sea World is a tremendous asset to this resort and it was perfect timing to take advantage and form an alliance," Wolling said.
The Sheraton World Resort is now a Preferred Sea World hotel, recommended by the theme park to guests who are looking for hotel accommodations. And the Sheraton is now offering its guests the special Sea World package -- two nights accommodations and two tickets for Sea World for only $254 plus tax, based on double occupancy. Guests can walk a private path from the hotel to the park.
When Anheuser Busch, Sea World's owner, opens its newest attraction, Discovery Cove, this summer, the Sheraton will offer a special package for that park, as well. Sheraton World guests will be able to swim with dolphins, receive two all-inclusive Discovery Cove packages and two nights accommodations for just $556 plus tax, double occupancy.
The Discovery Cove package includes the dolphin swim experience; unlimited access to the Cove's Coral Reef, Ray Lagoon, Resort Pool, Tropical River and Aviary; a freshly prepared meal; complimentary parking and use of snorkel equipment, wet suits, lockers and towels; plus, a seven consecutive day pass for unlimited admission to Sea World Orlando. The Sheraton World Resort is located at 10100 International Drive. The hotel is owned and operated by Remington Hotels, Inc. Remington, a 25-year-old company headquartered in Dallas, owns 37 hotels throughout the U.S., of which the Sheraton World Resort, with its 1,102 rooms on 28 acres, is the largest.
